Dear Dr Laura: I have test-driven the 4Runner V8 Limited and the Sequoia
Limited today. As you would xpect, I prefer the 4Runner but my wife prefers
the Sequoia, for all of the usual reasons. Performance and technology vs
you can take the kids and their friends skiing in one vehicle. Whichver
vehivle it is, it will be the one that I drive to work every day.
What should I do, assuming that money is no object (which of course it is)?

I have a 2001 4runner.
The 2 complaints I have with it are that the back seats are not as
comfortable as they could be, especially on long trips, and on rough roads
it shows it’s trucklike suspension. If you do mostly road driving the
sequoia is much more comfortable, if you do any offroad driving, like on
dirt roads, the 4runner is much more desirable.
A friend of mine has the RX300, which is definately much nicer to sit in, on
long trips. Front seats are fine for me, so I don’t mind, unless i need a
driver change

First of all, congratulations on being married and not shacking up (does
anyone
still use that term except Dr. <sic> Laura)?
I would not get a Sequoia as a vehicle to drive every day, but if it’s only
an
occasional use vehicle then I’d go with the Bin Laden Mobile Sequoia.
For a daily use vehicle the 4 Runner is more suitable. Get a good Thule
rack system with carriers for all the stuff needed for ski trips.
Spoken like an experienced husband.
