Squeaky speedo!?!?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 10:40 am

My speedometer is making a squeaking sound that varies in pitch
according to speed (faster = higher pitch). It used to do this only on
cold (for So.Cal) mornings and go away once the inside of the truck
warmed up a bit. Now it does it most of the time. The only thing that
makes the noise go away is if i turn up the radio! :0) BTW it’s a 1991
Toyota Pickup (22RE). Is this the cable or the gage? This is the type
that has the cable right up to the back of the gage so I’m going to
pull out the gage and drive around to see if it will still squeak. Any
ideas??? can I lube the gage or the cable?? thanks

Steve

Mounting A Class 3 Trailer Hitch

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 10:39 am

I will be purchasing a used trailer hitch in the next few days. Are there
any problems with buying used and also what mounting hardware will I need on
top of the hitch itself?  I have a 91 4Runner and it looks as if the fram is
to high to mount directly to the frame.  (Hitch would hit bumper) Do I need
to install a spacer?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks
Richard

22R running rich, I'm stumped

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 10:39 am

OK, I’ve got one that’s had me stumped for almost a month.  I’ve got a
federal (non-CA) ’87 4×4 with a 22R.  It runs very rich at all RPMs
unless I drive it for at least 20 minutes at freeway speeds.  When it is
thoroughly heated up does it run well at all RPMs.  The exhaust is dirty
black. I’ve temporarily traded carbs with a friend who had an extra
california carb around the same year, and it runs fine.  I plugged all
hoses and openings that the two carbs didn’t have in common when I
traded.

But I don’t see what’s wrong with my own!!  I’ve checked the float
level, choke, fuel cut solenoid & O-ring, and visually inspected the
entire inside of the carb.  None of the pin/needle thingies inside seem
to be sticking, and I’m able to circulate air through all the passages.

There are ‘sooty deposits’ inside my carb, but in unexpected places.
There are black sooty deposits only in the primary barrel, and there
only from the throttle plate up.  I would have thought that if the
engine were backfiring enough to cause these deposits, then it would be
all over inside the intake manifold, and bottom of throttle plate as
well.

My two questions are:
1) Of course, what could be wrong?
2) If I don’t know what’s wrong, could I assume that a rebuild would
take care of this problem, or should I rather spend the big bucks for a
new carb from the start?

Hi all.  Does anyone make a high performance ECU chip upgrade for the
2000 Tacomas?  If anyone has one, how do you like it?

'92 V6 Pickup gas mileage…

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 10:38 am

Hi ya’ll!

I find that I’m going often to the gas pump with my ’92 Toyota Pickup V6.
I get about 150-175 miles per tank of gas, and that’s when I’m almost never
on 4wd.  Is this normal?

A/C compressor won't work

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 2:56 am

My a/c compressor on my 87 4-runner doesn’t seem to be working.
The fuse checks good behind the glove box.
The fan is working.
The green light on the a/c button is on when pressed in.
I don’t feel the strain on the engine when the a/c is turned on,and
I don’t hear the compressor turn on.
Any ideas or suggestions on  what to check?

Thanks
Arezee

4×4 Engine Question

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 2:56 am

Hey All,
Is it possible to get a 4×4 Regular cab with the v6 engine?  I
heard it was but never confirmed.  If so, is it difficult to get the
dealer to special order it?  Thanks!
