I’m a proud owner of a 1992 Toyota Pickup, but sadly without the owners
manual. Can someone let me in on the mixture of antifreeze/water and the
volume needed to change the coolant?
Thanks!

I recently cleaned out my throttle body on my 96 4runner. Now, even when
the engine is warm it seems to idle high ~1000-1200RPM……..
do I have to reset the ECU??? if so…….How??
thanks
I have DRL’s on my Tacoma. I have recently found out that the DRL unit runs
off of the alternator. know this because I fried my alternator (this story
is a 2 part Opera) and that killed the DRL’s. Is there a way to tap a
switch into the ground for the DRL unit so I can kill my DRL’s? Or do I
need to get into the fuse box and tap a switch for the headlight relay? How
the heck to I make my DRL’s run into a switch so I can select them to be on
or off without voiding my warranty? Pulling on the E-Brake doesn’t work.
The Only way I’ve found is to turn the truck off, pull the ebrake a little
and restart it and leave the e-brake pulled. I can’t believe Toyota did
this. What about the people that have to go onto military bases, etc.
Sometimes I just want to shut off my headlights! I want them working as
they are a safety feature and a deduction on my insurance, but as I said
before, I need to be able to turn them off. Thanks!

If it was fine before the tranny work, I would suggest checking the rear driveshaft phasing:

Chances are the tranny shop didn’t put the shaft back on properly and that is the cause of the vibration.
I have a 99 toyota tacoma with 37000 KMS on it and the check engine light
just came on tonite. Is there any way I can reset this or find out how to
extract the error code myself. I still have the original plugs in it should
these be changed
thanx in advance
I was wondering for starters what are the best sparkplugs you can use?
Secondly the wire coming from the coil seems a little thin are there
upgraded wires from the coil pack to the spark plug. any other input would
be appreciated.

Greetings, I own a 1991 4Runner SR5, which is going into the shop tomorrow
to get the V06 head gasket job done, and a P01 A/C expansion valve done. I
have heard that a lot of dealers are doing a wham bam job and just slapping
a couple of head gaskets in and throwing them back together, only to have
them fail again at a later date. On the other hand I have heard of dealers
inspecting the rings and cylinder walls and replacing the whole short block
becuase of slight damage. My question is, what is actually covered under
this campaign? Valve adjustmet? Timing Belt? Knock Sensor and or harness? I
really don’t know what to expect, but if I go in KNOWING in advance what
should be done, I feel I have a better chance of getting a good job done,
and not having anything overlooked.
Thanks for you help
Jerry
I just came across this group and was hoping someone could give me a hand
with some pointers. I’m going to be looking at a 92 4Runner SR5 V6 auto
that’s fully loaded tomorrow. It has 126,000 kms on it and they are asking
11,500 Canadian for it at a (reputable) dealership. Is this a fair price and
what kinds of things should I be looking for when checking it out. Black
book wholesale) for the truck is between 6500-8500 but the only ones I’ve
seen in that price range have between 250-300,000 kms. Any information would
be very helpful as this would also be my first 4 wheel drive.
Thanks
Sean
Hello, all!
I have a ’89 2WD EFI truck with an intermittent ‘stumble’ or bogging at
highway speeds.
This problem only occurs after about 30 minutes of 65MPH driving. In the
city, the truck
performs like a champ.
I ran across this message in rec.autos:
Here’s a perplexing problem with an ’86 Toyota truck:
While driving level on the freeway in 4th gear at 60-65 mph, the
engine intermittently ‘stumbles’ as I lightly push the throttle to
maintain constant speed. I have no trouble such as hesitation when
accelerating at a greater rate, such as when climbing a hill.
In addition, if I am going down a steep hill and let the engine
brake, the deceleration is quite erratic.
This was posted in ’94 and pretty much describes my problem.
The only relevant response centered around the fuel filter.
If anyone has any recent experience with this, I’d like to hear how you
resolved
the problem.
Thanks,
Roy
