'96 Landcruiser starter won't disengage?

Helping out a buddy. His ’96 LC starts with the following – All dash lights
(oil, check engine, temp, seatbelt, door, voltage, etc) stay on AFTER start,
along with a rise to about 2k rpm, and what he describes as a whine which
all ends anywhere from 5 secs to many miles down the road. He’s had Toyota
look at it and all they could come up with was a new battery. I suspect a
bad starter/solenoid or maybe even an ignition switch or both. Any thoughts
would be most appreciated.

Thx, Nick

Were 91 Land Cruiser calipers used on any other Toyota?

Hello group,
I’m helping a friend on his 91 Land Cruiser FJ-60 or FJ-70, (four door
station wagon).  He needs new calipers on the front and I was wondering if
Toyota used the same four piston calipers on any other vehicles.  My son has
an 89 Toyota 4X4 truck and they look very similar.  We can’t find any
Landcruisers at the wrecking yards around here.  Any help or advice would be
greatly appreciated.  thanks

1999 4runner SR5 ticking noise

I was reading that post about the 94 with the ticking noise and thought I
would toss this out there. I have a ’99 and have a ticking noise that sounds
like it’s coming from the engine on the driver’s side. I mentioned it to a
sales guy and he said he’s heard lots of Runner’s with that sound….anyone
be able to tell me what that actually is? Is it something to be concerned
about?

2002 tacoma d-cab Paint Problems!

Is there anyone else out there that has had their paint start chipping off
or rubbing off with very little effort?
I have a 2002 Tacoma D-Cab and the paint will come off very very easy.
And how can I get this fixed from toyota? They deny that it is a problem and
they will not repair it!
thanks
Robert

2003 Tacome rebate in VA?

Does anybody know what the current Tacoma rebates are in Virginia? Several
dealers have ads today mentioning a rebate but not how much.

Thanks,

tundra 4×4 spindles help

My friend put a tuff country 5 inch lift on his 2001 4×4 tundra and
now he keeps breaking the steering knuckle/spindle on the drivers
side. He drives on the road 99% of the time so it is not from abuse.
It seems like this part is very weak. We compared it to the one on my
f-150 and it is about half as thick. Has anyone heard of this
happening and if so any suggestions. Thanks for any info.

Normal. The computer locks out overdrive untill the engine temp comes up for
emissions purposes.

89 4×4 – Loosing coolant, swishing noise when heater turned on

I have a ’89 4×4 w/ a 22-RE engine.  Lately,  I have been loosing a
lot of coolant and hear a swishing noise when I turn the heater on.  I
think that the coolant is making it into the exhaust (somehow).
However, the head gasket seems OK as there is zero coolant in the oil
and there is no missing or loss of power.  Any insight into my problem
would be appreciated….

Toyota Tacoma "Quad-Cab" Moon-Roof

Anyone seen a Moon-roof installed on a Tacoma Quad-Cab? (((Quad Cab ONLY))))
I have a 2003 Tacoma on order and was wondering how a OPTIONAL Moon-Roof
would look like and perform on a Tacoma Quad-Cab. I was able to find ONE
picture of one on the internet and that one looks nice installed on a Lunar
Mist Met / Charcoal (same as mine) however I do not know what type of shade
it uses. I heard it was a screw in type removeable shade and the moon-roof
is a "rear pop-up latch type"  Not and electronic sliding type. Any comments
from anyone? I can email anyone a copy of the photo I found (24kb) with one
on it but I should would like to see more photos or hear more comments from
other Quad Cab owners.
