Help Help it just disappears..

On my Toyota 4Runner 1995 V6 4WD the water level in the rad goes
down.. There are no leaks there is no water contamination in engine
oil or in the radiator. SO its safe to say that the head gasket is OK.
I have noticed that when I start my engine it idles rough for a
minute or two and then its smooth.  But I just cant figure out where
the water is going… Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks
Ken

Head for 87 22R

Does anyone have or have a source for a reasonably priced head for a 87
pickup with 22R engine.
Water in oil caused the center cam bore to score in mine.
Any ideas who can line bore and put inserts in head?
Thanks
Charles

Tune Up specs sought for 22r — ignition timing and idle speed

My 1981 2wd pickup is sending me hints that I need to finish the
tune-up that I started before Christmas: rough idling, sputtering,
stumbling during acceleration, etc…

I want to make sure the ignition timing and idle speed are set to
factory spec, but the Haynes manual says to check the decal under the
hood — and the decal says to leave that stuff to the dealer.

I have searched the internet, but the only thing I can find is a
webpage for Toyota Celica afficionados that suggests that a 1981 22r
should have an idle speed of 700 rpm and the ignition timing at 8
BTDC. Nothing about the fast idle setting.

The Haynes manual has met my needs nicely up until this point and I’d
rather not spring for a factory service manual just to get the specs
for ignition timing and fast and slow idle speeds.

Am I being an unreasonable cheapskate here? Is there some reason this
info is so hard to come by?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

2000 Tundra doors

Got a call from my dad on his 2000 Tundra.  Says the front doors (he has the
1/2 door for the x-cab) don’t ever stay open on his driveway.  It’s inclined
about 10°.   Says they never really stayed open except for the first month
or so when it was new.  Is this a common problem?  Any aftermarket
solutions?  He also mentioned that his seat belts never retract well.  That
made me lauch b/c on my 95 taco I have the same problem.

Starts when cold…dies when hot

Same truck as the timing chain/igniter issue.  Now the timing chain is
replaced, I bought the new igniter and I have spark.  I start the
truck up and it seems to run great, a little noisy, but not much more
than usual, and no tapping thankfully enough.  Changed the alternator
because that was bad and now I can actually turn the engine over more
than once too!  Here’s the problem though, the engine starts up great
when cold and the choke plate is closed.  Runs fine, fast idles and
everything, blip the throttle and fast idle disengages, idles along
just great, the truck warms up and the choke plate opens…and it
dies.  Just shuts off.  Then nothing.  I can turn it over to my
heart’s content or the battery dies, whichever comes first (the latter
is starting to come first) but it won’t start until I let it cool down
completely, then it starts up just fine….rinse and repeat…..  Any
ideas?  I don’t understand how it could be a vacuum leak or anything
like that because I didn’t do anything to the carb.  I left it bolted
onto the intake and just set the whole thing on the side of the engine
compartment when I did the timing chain.  I checked the AAP diaphragm
because the hose looked wet, a bunch of gas drained out from it but I
checked it over and over and there weren’t any holes in it.  Pretty
lost on this one, help?

Truck Bed Seat Belts for Paseengers

Hi-

I believe there are county laws in various states that governs how seat
belts or restraints are used in truck beds.  I thought I should know in
case I receive a crew of truck bed riders.

Thanks in advance for you help.
