I’ve got a 97 Tacoma 4×4 w/ 15×7 wheels. Can I go from the stock 31"
tires to a set of BFG 32×11.5×15 without any negative effects. Is this
sufficient width for those tires?

You could use the 7" wheel, but the better choice would be the 8". With
the 7" wheel you could wear the middle out of the tire faster than the edges
with over pressuring. But if you air down the tires alot make sure the 8"
wheel has a large bead on thew wheel or it could pop off the bead easyer,
but not on the 7" wheel. Just my 2 cents….

You should measure the tread width and use a wheel not more than 1 in.
narrower, for the best"foot print" at normal inflation pressures.

Underinflation will help even out the wear pattern, but will also
cause the tire to run too hot at highway speeds and lead to premature
failure and tread separation.
This is a low-speed offroad trick only.

A lot depends on what you plan on doing with the vehicle. For off-road
use, especially when airing down the tires, you an usually run tires
4-5" wider than the wheels, x12.50 on 8", x10.50 on 6", etc.
However, for mostly on-road use, you may find the center of the tire
will wear faster unless you get the inflation just right. In that case,
stick with the tire mfg’s recommended rim width, in the case of BFG,
they recommend an 8-10" rim.
I’ll be running 33×10.50 tires on my 15×6 stock rims and I run 33×15.50
on 15×10 rims, no unusual wear, lost beads, or any other problems in 3+
years of hard use.

I know more than three people who uses 32×11.5×15 on their stock
Tacoma rims.
And I have gone four wheeling with them, with their tires aired down.
My next tires for my truck will be the 32s.
I will also put a 2.5" Cornbread spacer lift so I can get clearance fo
the tires…
