I agree.  I don’t like leather seats because I can never get comfortable in
them.  I prefer cloth seats of SR5 and Sport Editions because of that and I
don’t like sliding around when I’m turning or cornering.

Good idea.  There will be plenty of ’03 4Runners to choose from, and hence be
greater breathing room on price.

For most folks, 2WD is perfectly adequate for 90% of your driving
conditions … In addition, the simpler design improves vehicle
reliability and maintainability.

As for style, the ’03s were clearly designed to appeal to soccer moms
… The 02s are much more muscular and truck-like.

I agree, the Sport Edition is the one I would get.  I am not particularly fond
of leather seats.  I cannot just get comfortable in them.  I prefer cloth or
velour seats for the fact that I can be comfortable in them, as well as not go
sliding around while turning.

That’s a good idea.

Yeah, but it’s very ugly.  Especially those CRV-wannabe taillights.  And plus
Volvo is built by Ford, and the fact that Volvo quality went down since Ford
acquired them (look at the original S80s problems, and you’ll see what I mean),
are enough reasons to avoid it, IMHO.

I am going to assume that the 4runner and Tacoma will be similar? I
drove a new 4runner limited yesterday and it was more "Tahoe slash
Danali" in room and comfort than spartan toyota. It felt much wider
and plush than the older modle. For me it felt more in the range of
the Tundra than the Tacoma… although I find the Tundra… too big.
This was a good size for my preference. I am now curious when to
expect the 04 Tacoma truck… so I can upgrade from my 02 Tacoma.

The last two Toyotas we bought we paid well under invoice.
Invoice has become the defacto retail price that anyone
can get via a buying service, unless it’s one of the rare
models that is in short supply.

In three months the 03 4WD V6 SR5 will be under $30K with
typical options (convenience package, etc.). The fools that
must have the new model right when it is introduced keep
the prices high for a few months, but the excitement soon
dissipates.
