new Tacoma?

thanks,

  1. get em’ if you can. ABS has advantages over non-ABS for those who are not
    "braking experts".

  2. they told me that ABS wasn’t available here in Columbus Oh.
They shipped/built those with ABS out west and south.

  3. well, easily available options seem to be regional, HOWEVER, Toyota has a
ABS option and it can be ordered for any U.S. destination.

dealer "locates" are usually done within 200 mile radius. the dealer can do
a "A" trade with any other dealer. this allows the dealer to obtain vehicles
destined to other regions that has the options you want.

dealer can also do a "FRS" and/or "factory order" for you (if the dealer is
not a ball buster). an "FRS" usually takes 30-45 days just to know if Toyota
accepted the request. factory orders can take up to 5 months, but will be
    delivered.

please post to this group how your dealings with the dealer(s) go.

    good luck.

  4. I just ordered a double cab with ABS a few weeks ago, haven’t heard back
yet.   They said it would take at least a month.

  5. I won’t the pay extra for mine, but only because of the extra option package
that’s required.  If you’re already getting a power or convenience pkg
    needed for ABS, get ABS.

That said, it’s ridiculous that Tacoma doesn’t come standard with this.  ABS
was standard on Ford Ranger 8 years ago!  Don’t know the history with Chevy,
but 4-wheel ABS disk are standard on S10 now.

I think it worth calling Toyota and passing along your thoughts on this.
ABS is a safety issue, and Tacoma is way behind the curve on this one.

Also, you might want to check with your insurance company pre-purchase to
ask what your rates will be.  I’m getting some pretty high estimates for
    2002 Tacoma from multiple carriers.
