Hello to all

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:58 am

Glad to see this group started. Just upgraded from a ’98 4×2 to a ’99
4×4 SR5 V6 TRD, love it. The only thing I miss is the lighting package
– (map lights, glove box, ignition ring light) but I think I can live
without those. ;) Word is, the TRD models did not ship with the
lighting package.. Anyway, question to the group:

My steering wheel is off center, to the right about one o-clock when I
am on a straight flat road. The funny thing is, my ’98 4×2 was the
same way! It’s no big deal I am just really curious if there is a
reason. It’s not like I weigh 500lbs! :)

Also, do all think an oil change @ 500ml and then @ 1000ml is
excessive? I always went with a 3000ml service on my ’98.

Thanks to all,

-Tim

  1. Not sure about your steering wheel problem.

On a brand new vehicle, it’s a good idea to
change your oil every 1k miles for the first 2k or 3k.
That way, any/all new wear-break in sediments
get drained out.  And then stick to every 3k miles
    is fine.

My ’96 4×2 is the same.

When brand new?  No, I think that’s a good idea.  I do all my new
vehicles at 500, 1000 then 3000 after that.

Hey Tim, I just got the same truck only didn’t get the TRD package,
and you are right, I had a real old Toyota SR5 4×4 and it looks like
toyota did away with some of the stuff I liked, like full
intrumentation, map lights, etc…..but I moved up to an xtra cab and
a V6, guess that was a good trade off.  Anyways, No, my wheel is not
off center, it’s pretty much straight up. Alittle off center is no big
deal, but 1:00 is a bit much. Personally, I’d take it back and have
    them straighten it up.   Later.

  5. I have the exact same truck you do.  My steering wheel is fine.  They can
adjust this at the shop.  This will happen a lot when you have an alignment
done.  They disconnect the steering, align the front end, straighten it up,
and then they will reach up into the vehicle and set the steering wheel
straight.  At least straight from where they are seeing it, from below and
    off to the side.
