I have a 2001 Tacoma 4×2 extracab 2.4 5 speed and am getting a shake when
letting the clutch out from a stop. It was doing this for the first 100
miles or so and then was real smooth up to 1000 miles. Now it is shaking
again. If I set the parking brake and try to engage the clutch it feels
smooth so I would think it isn’t the clutch. Anybody experience this before?
Any comments before I take it back to the dealer? Thanks, Todd.

My ’99 2WD X-Cab 5-speed did that starting at about 100 miles. I took it to
the dealer, they said there was no problem found. It never did it again. Now
I’ve got 26K miles.
I just don’t trust those bastards. I don’t know what they did if anything
but if its fixed, who cares. I suspect they burned on the clutch until it
smoothed out(broke in).
There is also a rattling sound coming from around the bell housing at low
speeds. I may never know if this is related until *I* have to start paying
for repairs.(3 year warranty)
All I ever get from them is ‘that’s normal".
