I recently put a 84 grand wagoneer dana 44 under my ’95 Tacoma.
Everything has gone well, except with the front brakes. My rear brakes
work fine, but my front brakes have very minute pressure. I have
thoroughly bled the brake system and replaced the master cylinder. I
believe I have no leaks of air or fluid throughout the system. Pistons
and pads are good and i have tweaked the proportion valve. I am out of
ideas. Mechanics knowledgeable in this area please respond so I can get
this truck on the trails!!!

buying '90 to '95 What to Look for
Hi there I’m looking at buying a ’90 to ’95 toyota pickup with the ext cab.
Any tips on what to look for or what type of things to expect from it during
the next few years. This’ll be my first toyota although I have had friends
that have owned a few.
Thank for any tips or links to good sites.

2004 Tundra radio/cass/cd dead or locked?
I just purchased a radio/cassette/cd unit with factory amp from someone on
eBay. The idea was to replace an aftermarket stereo which had been stolen
(my truck was stolen several weeks ago and then abandonded–gutted, of
course).
After a lot of research, I managed to wire in the toyota repair harness and
powered up the unit. Everything looked good, it powered up fine and all of
the functions were correct. Then I disconnected the main harness from the
factory amp to tuck my wiring away.
When I plugged it back in, nothing happened. The only reaction I can get
from the unit is when I insert a cd. It will accept a cd and eject when
prompted, but it seems dead otherwise. There is no indication on the
display that the security lock is in effect.
So my question is this: Am I dealing with a locked/secured unit, or did I
inadvertently fry something? Anybody have experience with this?
Thanks,
John
How useful is AWD compared to VSC and ABS?
Back in 2001, I bought a Toyota Highlander V6 Limited. A big reason being
that it had AWD (all wheel drive) and I had just moved to the lake effect
snow ridden area of northern Indiana/southwest Michigan. The Highlander has
VSC (vehicle stability control) and ABS (anti-lock braking system) as well
as the AWD.
I am thinking of trading it in next year for a Toyota Matrix or other
vehicle (that I can fit into – I’m 6’3" and head/leg room are issues). I
have found that the VSC seems to be the BIG thing I like on the Highlander –
that VSC system saved my bacon twice last winter when I started getting into
a skid and the VSC almost magically got the car going straight down the road
in only a second or two.
So I am starting to get the impression that the AWD feature is important
only for getting the vehicle MOVING, and that the ABS and VSC are what keeps
the vehicle on the road and stopping when you want it to stop which is WAY
more important.
Since I live in a fairly flat area, I therefore have come to the conclusion
that I didn’t really need AWD after all. And that ABS and VSC are the must
have options.
So when looking for a new vehicle in the near future, does it make sense
that AWD isn’t nearly as important as the ABS and VSC? (It’s not that I
can’t monetarily afford to add the AWD, it’s because gas mileage,
horsepower, and even gasoline tank size suffer on many AWD models.)

charging system problem on 91 toy
3 months ago the charge and E brake light came on , on my 91 toyota truck.
The battery is strong but the alternater is not charging. I pulled the
alternater thinking it was bad but when it was bench tested it passed.
Puzzled I put it back on thinking I would need to investigate wiring.
after I put it back on though it worked and the lights stayed off and no
charging problems. So……..yesterday (three months after the fisrt time
this happened) the lights come back on. Again I pulled the alternater and
had it tested. It still tests good but when I put it back on still no
charge. I checked the plug and the wires up to their next plug and they
are all good. I checked all the fuses and fusable link
modules……………all good!!! Im fairly stumped at this point. Any
ideas guys?? thanks in advance

Tundra questions
I got an 04 Tundra SR5 4WD regular cab in July and love it (best vehicle
I’ve ever owned) but I do have a couple of questions:
1. in reading posts to the group, I’ve seen mentions of changing the timing
belt at 60,000 – 70,000 miles. Is this a problem with Toyotas and, if so,
what are the signs the belt needs changed?
2. my driver’s side low beam headlight shines low and I’d like to raise it a
bit. The owner’s manual says to take it to a Toyota dealer for adjustment,
but surely it can’t be that hard to do. How are headlight adjustments made
(which are the adjusting screws?).
TIA for any advice.
