I have an ’86 pick up with a 22r (w/ carb.)  I know that my carb is
almost shot, but I also know that the engine has either a rod knocking
or a bad bearing because there is a lot of engine noise at 2500 rpm, not
before and not after though.  I was wondering, with my limited buget
what I should do, should I do major engine work(ie rebuild, or replace)
or should I replace the bad carb. and hope that the engine still has a
lot of life in it.  Any help would be great, I know the carb is bad
because of the hard starts, cold stuttering, and many other things that
I am blaming on it like bad gas milage, poor acceleration, and lack of
power.   Any help would be great.  Thanks again
