I have a ’95 Tacoma that is in need of head gasket repairs. I understand
there is a recall on certain models made in Japan. According to Toyota
mine does not fall into this recall. Has anyone had their vehicle
recalled for head gasket work?
I’m trying to find out if anyone is in the same position as me. I would
like to get Toyota to cover the cost even though my VIN# does not match
the recalled vehicles. Has anyone gotten Toyota to cover this work?
Customer Assistance would not authorize the repairs under warranty
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Also, I live in San Jose Calif. and would like to find a repair shop
that is reliable. Can anyone give me a recommendation?
Thanks

Check alldata.com see if there are any tsb’s, I know the early 3.4 engines
definitely had hd gskt problems.

If your Tacoma is a 6 cylinder, there was a recall on it, but yours may
have already been done.

My truck is a 6 cyl. and there was a recall on some of the vehicles but
according to Toyota Assistance center, my truck was not affected by the
recall. I’m trying to figure out what my options are. Do I have some type of
recourse with Toyota? If a few of the gaskets are bad, who’s to say mine isn’t
one of them? Any suggestions as to my next move?
