My father’s Tundra sometimes feels like its rear ended while at a
stoplight sometimes….it’s a slight bump and then everything is fine.
Anyone know what causes this…it’s a 2WD automatic.
Thanks
Chris

My 4WD occasionally does the same thing. There are two possible reasons.
1 – AC compressor kicks in and causes the engine to idle up. Note on the
Tundra, the AC is automatic when you have the vent selector turned to the
defrost vents.
2 – Something to do with the slip joint. I don’t know enough about this to
describe in detail, but it’s discussed at tundrasolutions.com. I believe
the potential fixes include an anti-sway bar, smoothing some edges on the
splines, and in some cases just lubing it. I’d like to hear more about this
from any Toyota mechanics who are on this forum, as it’s a commonly observed
phenomena in the Tundra.

My 2000 tacoma V-6 automatic does the same thing…..
