I am asking your opinion on what is the strongest Toyota manual
transmission. The intended use is behind a modified 22RE at about
150hp. This will be in a 1985 or later 2wd pickup. I have been told
that the post ’85 5sp can only handle about 140 ft-lb of torque. This
vehicle will be used under race conditions on unpaved roads.
Your input is most welcome.
Thanks, Tim

OTT makes an adapter to put the sm420 behind the toyoya, they handle
SB and BB power.

Please do not post to Usenet in HTML. It uses several times the necessary
bandwidth, and many newsreaders cannot interpret HTML.

Celica. If you get it out of a Supra you may have to change bell housing with
yours. Great ratios and lots of pull throughout the gears. 5th gear is .765:1 vs
.865:1 for the stock truck. You won’t even need to change the rear mount. I have
one in my 84 2wd and I love it.
