Hey…..
Some of us can go deeper into the woods.
We are WAshington Chapter of TTORA
Tacoma Territory Offroaders ASSocation.
Limited to Tacomas but we’ve gone wheeling with the "other" guys.
We’ve done Shaw Lake, Tahuya, etc..
You’ll be surprised what my stocker Tacoma can and has done.
As for most of them who cannot follow, it depends what you have.
Of course a stocker Tacoma cannot go to Elbe and get banged up and
all.
We already had a few vehicles who did Elbe and will NEVER do that BIG
mistake again with their Taco….
We "Tacos" are longer based and most are newer and not lifted so high
yet.
Most of us have total 3-6 inch lifts with tires from 31 to 33s….
Tacomas are newer and they are not worth beating up unless you want to
beat up a perfectly nice rig. If you wanted to do HARDCORE wheeling
an older yota would be a better set up.
79 Toy? With all the goodies?
See what I mean? That I would defenitely take places.
My Taco is a daily driver for now. :-)

I have heard, from a car salesman, that the best way to buy a new vehicle is
to research dealer cost.
NEVER go in person and meet with a salesperson, except to test drive and
decide, give a bogus name.
FAX a detailed description of the vehicle you want to all dealers you are
willing to travel to and ask them what price they will sell at. Then gather
all prices and fax again the lowest offer and ask if anyone can beat it.
With that quote go buy your car.

And don’t be afraid to search far and wide. In ’88, Cruisers were a
$2,500 or more over sticker in Southern California, including paint
and upholstery treatment ‘packs’, large non-refundable deposits and
long waiting lists – but they were $4,500 UNDER sticker in Northern
California, because they weren’t moving there.
We did the whole deal by fax, they even paid for the ticket from
Burbank to Oakland and picked me up at the airport. And when I gave
the local dealers their "last right of refusal" to meet the price,
they looked at that price, and then looked at me like I had three
eyes… (Not that I was gloating or anything, you understand.
Cars are a commodity, no matter what the dealer would have you
believe. And I had the luxury of still having a car to drive (that
wasn’t going to be a trade-in, so they couldn’t play with the prices
by low-balling the trade), and I arranged my own financing. So if
they wouldn’t sell at my price, I could wait and keep shopping.

Its all supply and demand. A good deal is a deal that you and the dealer are
comfortable with. Keep trying, you will get someone in your area to move a
little off of list.
